Select payment method: Pay via bank transfer or card, even where cards aren’t accepted.*

Melio Payments + Xero

Syncing your Melio and Xero account is very easy and takes just a few minutes.

Account payables, i.e. bills to pay, go through a two-way sync. This means that all your Awaiting Payment bills (Draft or Awaiting Approval will not be synced) and vendor details from Xero sync to Melio and your unpaid, scheduled and paid bills and vendor details from Melio sync to Xero. So you eliminate dual-data entry of bills and enjoy auto-reconcile payments.

With account receivables, i.e. invoices, the sync is from Xero to Melio. This means that invoices should be created in Xero and then synced to Melio. Once they are fully paid with a payment request, they are synced back to Xero and marked as paid in both accounts. Also, invoices that are paid outside of Melio and marked as paid in Xero will be automatically marked as paid in Melio as well.

Xero Integration Doesn't Work

The sync was always slow and now it just doesn't work. And they don't have an open API to use Zapier as an alternative. Terrible customer support too.

Infuriating!

I'm honestly quite astounded - for a couple of years I've heard of Melio talked about favorably as a Xero electronic payment solution, but I scratch my head about how they can still be in business. It's free, I guess you get what you pay for eh? We setup Melio at the beginning of this year to automate some payments, after using various cobbled together solutions for years, the most frequent third party app being CheckKeeper as it would synchronize Xero AP and allow us to easily issue a check payment that they dispatch from their location, without us being involved in signing or mailing, and with a halfway decent history/audit trail. But their multi-user functionality is in its infancy, and they don't do electronic payment, which we increasingly need to issue also, and our only other solution were high overhead Wells Fargo options. Melio in theory is great - synchronizes our Xero Bills for easy payment. Setup was seamless. But within a week or so, synchronization with Xero stopped working and just stays stuck in a syncing loop. And Melio support has no solution no matter how many times contacted, and leaves you hanging. The only apparent fix is to delete your account and start over. That's my recommended solution, but then compliance will catch up with you, and conclude you have multiple accounts. I don't know how these guys make their money - must be off of some transaction fees and $1.50 paper check charges, but it seems like a shady fly by night operation based on depth of tech support that nobody can actually make a Xero sync integration work. We're off to RAMP as the payment platform, unfortunately they don't sync Xero bills, so we have to originate in RAMP or incur the manual overhead. We'd pay for Melio if it actually worked. But alas - they're infuriating!
