Cogo is the perfect app to get started on tracking carbon footprints. It took us under 5 mins (literally) to have our first footprint that we were confident to share! Plus, it was free! This was compared to a $10k quote from a consultant. I could not recommend this more.

Love using the Cogo app! Previously I had been using an excell spreadsheet, which was confusing for someone who isn't really in this space. It was also very manual, I had to remember to put the numbers in and record everything myself, and I often thought that I wasn't quite capturing everything. With Cogo it is so much easier and extremely straightforward with very little effort. The only thing that needs to be done is the reconciling (matching purchases to carbon categories), which is very simple and similar to what I'm already doing with our Xero accounts. I know that everything we buy is now captured and it gives us a much clear picture of where our numbers are sitting. It also gives great practical suggestions for reducing our emissions, all on an easy to read dashboard. Would 100% recommend to any business or person.

I was encouraged to use this app and then present the experience to a Climate Action Group, which I did last week. It was such an easy way to step into carbon accounting. When I was approached, i took the challenge and said yes, bc its something I've been putting off... and I thought "Great, having to stand up in public will force me to sit down for several day and actually do the job..." Well, a couple of hours later I had a carbon report classified into Scope 1, 2 & 3, with actions and a plan! It was incredibly easy and actually kind of addictive. They are still developing and there is massive potential in working with Xero (or other accounting packages). I am looking forward to being able to apply it to our vineyard business, as currently crop farming isn't covered. There are going to be limitations on absolute accuracy when estimations are based on invoicing, but it will improve, and the power of getting us over the hurdle of accounting for our carbon impact is massive! I highly recommend anyone who's been putting this off to use this tool and get some action is a very do-able, quick, easy and fun exercise!
