Scam
My experience with Stripe has been nothing short of disgraceful. My legitimate business accepted payments through Stripe, only for payouts to be paused, my account to be placed under review, and then closed with nothing more than a generic explanation that my business was considered "too high risk."
Over the course of this process, I contacted customer support on several occasions, but every response felt like an automated AI-generated template. There was no accountability, no meaningful communication, and no genuine attempt to explain what was happening or resolve the issue.
Stripe is currently holding over $6,000 of my business funds, and I have not been provided with a clear explanation of the legal or contractual basis for doing so. For a small business, this has had a significant impact on cash flow and operations.
I'm also extremely disappointed that Xero promotes Stripe as a payment partner. Based on my experience, I believe businesses should carefully consider whether this is the right payment provider for them before relying on it to process customer payments.
If you believe you have been treated unfairly by Stripe, I encourage you to explore your options for lodging a complaint with the relevant government or external dispute resolution bodies.
Transparency, communication and fair treatment of customers should be the minimum standard. Unfortunately, that was not my experience with Stripe, and I cannot recommend their service.

Convenient but technology decades behind
The good - invoices paid sooner.
The bad - everything else. The way Stripe connects to the banks feels like it's 2000s era. Other payment providers like Square have the ability to transfer money on weekends and public holidays, but not Stripe. If you're a business that relies on cash flow, Stripe is unsuitable.

Slow and not user friendly
This feature is expensive. we also require split payments for our customers which Stripe do not do. Our customers cannot change the amount they would like to pay towards their invoice. we have also noticed it is slow to transfer funds to us.
We are now looking into other options for credit card payments.

Expensive
They are ridiculously expensive, after a sweet argument with their AI assistant (who is an idiot by the way) I cried myself to sleep.
