Ostendo’s integration extends Xero into a full ERP environment, combining powerful operations with clean accounting workflows.
1. Background sync
- Contacts: Ostendo creates and updates customers and suppliers in Xero automatically.
- Invoices & Bills: Sales and purchase invoices are synced line-by-line for accurate GL postings.
- Payments & Journals: Record payments in Ostendo or Xero and both systems stay aligned. Manual Journals and adjustments flow through cleanly. Journal details can be optionally set to summarisation to reduce data volumes.
2. Multi-Currency & FX Handling
- Multi-currency enabled: Works smoothly in Xero Premium.
- Standard support too: For Xero Standard, Ostendo converts foreign currency and posts in local. It also calculates FX variances where necessary. Ostendo supports landed costing allowing the apportionment of shipment charges to be spread over the cost of purchased goods.
3. Integration Methods for AR
Choose the method that fits your workflow:
- Method 1 (Preferred): AR stays in Xero. Ostendo handles sales invoicing, then Xero handles the receipts.
- Method 2: Ostendo manages AR; payments and invoices sync back to Xero with balances.
- Method 3: For high volume sites, Ostendo manages AR; payments and invoices but posts to Xero as consolidated manual journals
4. Efficient Batch Posting
Ostendo bundles up to 100 entries per call. Limits are manageable with scheduling, so you stay within Xero API boundaries. Posts automatically at the set interval—pick from 5 minute intervals up to daily.
5. Detailed GL and Tracking
- Line-level GL mapping ensures accurate cost and revenue recognition
