Overview
Meet Minty
Hi, I'm Minty, your friendly companion for petty cash and bill payments. My whole job is to take the fiddly, easy-to-dread parts of bookkeeping and make them feel light, clear, and even a little cheerful. You bring the receipts and the everyday spending, and I'll keep it all tidy and ready for your accountant.
Here's the idea in a nutshell. You work inside Minty through entities, which are simply the businesses you're keeping books for. Within each entity you'll find modules for the two things I do best: a petty cash module for tracking small, everyday spending, and a payment module for handling your bills. You record what happens as it happens, attach your receipts, and I hold everything together so nothing slips through the cracks.
Where I really shine is the bridge between your books and Xero. Once you connect an entity to a Xero organisation, I become the quiet link between the two. When you're ready, you simply hit Publish and I carry your work over for you, tucking each item into its proper place. Petty cash entries land under Spend & Receive Money, bills arrive in Bills, and receipts travel right along with them. I run all of this in the background, so you're never stuck watching a spinner, and if part of a report struggles, I mark it partly done and let you retry only the pieces that need it, so nothing ever posts twice.
I also keep a fresh local copy of your chart of accounts and contacts, so pages load quickly and still work even when Xero is having a slow day. I only ever add and update, never delete, which means a contact never vanishes by accident. When you're picking accounts, I quietly set aside the ones Xero locks against direct posting, so you're only offered accounts you can actually use.
I care a lot about keeping things safe and predictable, so I follow a few gentle rules. Each Xero organisation pairs with just one Minty entity, and you'll always connect with the same account you signed in with, so there's never a mix-up about who owns what. Invitations are personal too, meant only for the exact person they were sent to. And whenever a connection lapses, I'll gently prompt you to reconnect rather than quietly failing.
More than anything, I try to be a calm, kind presence in your day. If something goes wrong, I'll tell you plainly and point you toward the fix instead of throwing jargon your way. If you're ever unsure, just ask, and I'll always give you a straight answer. Bookkeeping doesn't have to feel heavy, and with me looking after the busywork, you get to spend your energy on the numbers and decisions that truly matter. That's the whole point of me: less friction, more clarity, and a friendly hand whenever you need one.

Minty + Xero
Hi, I'm Minty, and getting me connected to your Xero account is one of the easiest things you'll do today. Let me walk you through the journey, from the first click to the moment we're in sync.
It all starts inside Minty. Log in, then either create a new entity or pick one you already have. Once it's ready, open the module you want to work with, click the three-line menu in the top-right corner, and head into Settings. There you'll find Entity & Integration, with a Connect to Xero button waiting for you. Give it a click and I'll carry you straight over to Xero.
From here, Xero takes the wheel for a moment. You'll log in and, right there on Xero's own Allow Access screen, choose the organisation you'd like me to manage. That choice happens on Xero's side rather than inside me, so you're always in control of what I can see. Try to approve just the one organisation you want, because if you approve several at once, I only keep the first.
Now for the part that happens quietly behind the scenes. The moment you approve, Xero hands me a one-time code. I swap it for a secure access token, along with a refresh token that keeps things running, then read the connection Xero just opened and lock in the organisation it points to. I remember that pairing safely on my side and attach it to every request I make, so Xero always knows who we're talking about. Whenever my access expires, I renew it in the background, so you stay connected without lifting a finger. Nothing sensitive travels back out; your tokens and organisation stay tucked away with me.
Want to make sure it worked? You can check from either side. Over in Minty, I'll show you which Xero organisation is linked to your entity, right on the settings card. Over in Xero, open Manage Connected Apps by clicking the nine dots in the top-left corner, and you'll find "Minty" already listed. You can disconnect there anytime, and if you do, I'll disconnect too. Just know it isn't instant on my end, since I catch the change the next time I refresh a page.
A few gentle ground rules keep us both safe. Each Xero organisation links to just one Minty entity, so if someone tries to connect one that's already taken, I'll politely turn them away and hand the access back to Xero. You'll also need to connect with the same Xero account you used to sign in to Minty, because if the two don't match, I'll stop right there and let you know. And invitations stay personal, so only the exact address an invite was sent to can accept it.
That's the whole story. Once we're linked, your data heads to Xero whenever you publish, and I keep the connection alive in the background so it's ready when you are. Welcome aboard, I can't wait to work with you.

Getting started
Welcome to Minty! I'm here to make your petty cash and bill payments feel effortless, and getting set up takes only a few minutes. Let me show you around.
First, sign in and set up your entity. An entity is simply the business you're keeping books for, so create a fresh one or pick an existing entity to work in. Once it's ready, open the module you'd like to use, whether that's petty cash or bill payments, and you're all set to start.
Next, let's connect you to Xero so your numbers have a home. Open the three-line menu in the top-right corner, head to Settings, and choose Entity & Integration. Click Connect to Xero, log in on Xero's screen, and pick the organisation you'd like me to manage. Give it the go-ahead with Allow Access, and just like that, we're linked.
Want to be sure it worked? I'll show you the connected organisation right on your settings card, and you can always double-check from Xero's Manage Connected Apps. If you ever need to step away, disconnecting from either side unlinks us together, so it only takes one click.
A couple of friendly things to know as you begin. Each Xero organisation pairs with just one Minty entity, and you'll want to connect with the same Xero account you used to sign in to Minty. When you're choosing accounts, I keep the ones you can actually post to and quietly set aside the ones Xero locks against direct posting, so you never run into a surprise error.
From here, the day-to-day is lovely and simple. Do your work in Minty, and whenever you're ready, hit Publish. I'll send everything over to Xero for you, tucking each transaction into its right place, from Spend & Receive Money to Bills. Your chart of accounts and contacts stay fresh in the background too, so pages load fast and nothing goes missing along the way.
That's really all there is to it. Set up your entity, connect Xero, and start publishing. I'll take care of the busywork behind the scenes so you can focus on the numbers that matter. Welcome aboard, let's get started.
