Onboarding is near impossible, and the customer service team is tone deaf.

Astounding lack of accountability and zero emotional intelligence. Avoid. I spent real effort just trying to SIGN UP as a new customer — and couldn't get through their process. When I raised the issues, customer service deflected: it was the "third-party applications' fault." Those third-party apps are part of PaymentEvolution's own onboarding. Blaming your own signup flow's components instead of fixing the experience is a choice, and it tells you exactly how they'll handle problems with your payroll later. The low point: when I expressed how frustrated I was, the rep told me that "frustration is not going to help solve any problems." Lecturing a customer about their tone instead of fixing the broken process is the most tone-deaf customer service response I've encountered in years. If this is the experience they give people trying to become paying customers, I have no interest in finding out what happens when something goes wrong with an actual payroll run. I hung up, went straight back to Wagepoint, and will never consider PaymentEvolution again. One star is generous.

Get what you pay for...

Weeks to set up. Process is not well disclosed at the start and results in multiple additional process requiring input from Banks via signed lettters, Accountants, 3rd party ID verification providers, etc all completely ridiculous given it's an engagement via the Xero app store

Pay more if you want less

I used this platform for a number of years and was happy with it but they have recently changed their plans and it is now mandatory that they make payroll remittances to CRA on your behalf. For various reasons we do not want to pass this on to a third party and I was told that if I want to make my own remittances then I will need to pay more than double.

Slow, Glitchy and Terrible Customer Service

Extremely slow and glitchy program with every click, and you have to click a lot. There have been promises of updates and improved speeds but the program honestly feels slower and unnecessarily more complicated to run payroll as time goes by. Click in to change this, back button, click in the change another item, back button... Support is canned and unhelpful. Two thumbs down.
