Seamless, secure, and smart
Climate Zero integrates directly and securely with your Xero account to automate carbon emissions calculations for your purchased goods and services. No exporting. No messy spreadsheets. Just connect and go. Once your Climate Zero profile is set up, connecting to Xero is quick and intuitive - taking most users less than 10 minutes to complete.
🔗 One-click Xero connection
Climate Zero uses Xero’s secure API to sync your business data safely, securely and efficiently. During setup, you’ll be prompted to:
- Choose how much historical data to import
- Select your payment workflow (Invoices or Bank Reconciliation)
- Exclude any accounts not relevant to emissions tracking
- Review and confirm initial category mappings
- Download a copy of your setup for future reference
Once connected, Climate Zero imports key transaction details, including:
- Chart of Accounts
- Spend categories
- Supplier names
- Payment dates and amounts
This financial data becomes the foundation for your emissions footprint.
🧠 Smart emissions mapping
Our intelligent mapping engine automatically applies emissions factors to most transactions based on what was purchased. Where it’s uncertain, the system flags transactions for your review, allowing you to confirm or refine the mapping. Climate Zero uses emissions factors from accredited and globally recognised sources, including: The Australian Government (NGA Factors) DEFRA (UK Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs) US EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) Our platform also automatically excludes categories like tax, donations, and unrelated financial activity - so you’re only tracking what matters.
🔁 Easy mapping updates
You have full control over your connection. At any time, you can edit the Xero integration to:
- Adjust or override transaction mappings
- Exclude or re-include specific accounts
❌ Disconnecting Xero
Need to unlink your Xero account? It’s simple. Just head to the “Connections” menu in your Climate Zero dashboard. You can disconnect at any time without affecting your saved data or reports.

Your data is encrypted and protected at all stages. Climate Zero never stores your Xero login details and uses industry best practices to manage authentication and permissions.

1. Create your Climate Zero profile
- Arrange a time with the Climate Zero team for a demo
- Confirm you wish to proceed with a free trial
- Set up your Climate Zero profile including your location and meters
- Invite other team members to access the software
- Start adding Electricity, Travel and Employee Commute data
2. Connect your Xero account
- Authorise Climate Zero to securely access your Xero account
- Confirm amount of historic data to import
3. Review and map transactions
- Climate Zero will auto-categorise your transactions to carbon categories
- You can review mappings, assign new categories, and flag exclusions
- Download your mappings for future reference
4. Gain real time insights on your emissions
- View your emissions dashboard with instant insights
- Export a compliant report with emissions by scope, location or country
