Getting started
Step 1: Install the Excel Add-in
After registering, download the Finnex AI Excel Add-in from the Microsoft AppSource Marketplace.
Step 2: Connect to Xero
Launch Finnex AI inside Excel and log in. -From the Xero menu to allow the Xero Organisations to connect to Finnex AI. -From Settings menu --> Workspaces tab set up your own workspace and securely link it to the Xero organisation you want to use.
Step 3: Start Using AI
Click on AI menu and perform an initial synchronization of your data.
You are now all set to ask AI to:
- "Process attached PDF bill into Xero."
- "Show me the monthly P&L for June 2025."
- "Drill down to my Marketing expense account."
- "Reclass $1000 from Marketing to Consulting expense."
Tips for Effective Use
You can access the pre-built AI workflow/prompts to assist you with common accounting tasks by going to Home page or click on the Lightbulb at the top of AI page.
To get the most out of your AI experience, refer to key elements in your commands:
- Use “selected range in My Excel” to instruct the AI to read from the selected cell range in Excel.
- Say “My Xero” to refer to your connected Xero organisation and let AI perform accounting tasks such as creating invoices or fetching reports.
- Attach one or more files, then use “Attached file” in your query to ask AI to extract data from the document (e.g., bills, receipts, or statements).
- Use “My DB” to instruct the AI to read, analyse, or update data in the Database.
