'Upgrade' is an absolute mess!! AVOID!

Like other users leaving reviews here, we only recently found out that Xero/Stripe recently 'upgraded' their integration and you can no longer connect your existing stripe account, despite the step by step process leading you to think you're connecting your existing account. What it actually does is create a new account with stripe for the same business. It just copies over the business details (not transactions or any other API keys etc). You're therefore left with 2 stripe accounts. One for handling Xero payments, the other for everything else. You also start again with regards to payout terms and transaction history. So if you're running multiple businesses, expect it to get even messier!! If I'd known this before connecting the account, I wouldn't have bothered. Genuinely now contemplating moving away from the platform all together.

Would leave minus 100 stars if I could

Xero 'upgraded' recently, and force-created a new Stripe account for our company. Stripe seemed to not know who our company was (despite our 4 year old Stripe account that processes $10k monthly) and treated us like a homeless person. I only learned of this problem after the first transaction. I learned that "payout funds" was not an option. After jumping through all their hoops to 'prove' we're a real company we still didn't satisfy their needs. We had to refund the customer and ask for eTransfer. Then Stripe informed us they made a mistake and our account is actually "good to go". So, on the 2nd invoice we ran into the same issue only to have Stripe say "oops, no. We're not good to go. Can you please prove you're a legit company?" Had to refund the 2nd customer and request payment by eTransfer. Now we're using PayPal and absolutely CANNOT wait to not have any connection to Stripe. Running a small business is hard enough. Not getting our own money is a nightmare.

Poor integration and a nightmare to reconcile

This app has proven to be a nightmare for us. We're having to unpick the mess that was created by Stripe due to its poor integration and payments only showing Stripe and a random number and not the customer's name. Multiple payments on the same day make it even more difficult to track payments to the point we've not deleted the payment link from our job software and are actively looking for an alternative provider. Perhaps good if you're very tech-savvy but for the majority of small traders, this is a clunky integration and not at all intuitive.

Very hard for small businesses to survive while they hold your money for up to 14 days and sting you with insane fees. Not a good set up for small business at all. Very poor and resulted in major financial struggles while I waited for my deposits

Response from Stripe

Hi Carla—if this was your first payout, this generally takes 7-14 business days to arrive in your bank account. From that first payout forward, you'll receive payouts on a more regular schedule: https://stripe.com/docs/payouts. We definitely understand that it's painful to wait this long for funds to become available for a payout, and we're always working on ways to provide the best service possible. If this wasn't your first payout or you'd like any further information about your payout schedule or a specific payout, you can email us any time at heretohelp@stripe.com.

Going back to QuickBooks

Stripe is a Silicon Valley darling and their UI/UX is incredible. However, their policies and fees are outrageous and highly subjective in their agenda. Will not be using Stripe to power our business going forward.

It works but the fee is high IMO

A 3% fee might not be a big deal for little purchases, but the payments I typically collect are in the 2K to 30K range, so the 3% fee often upsets my clients as it can be a few hundred dollars added. They should tier down the percent for larger purchases so people like me don't start shopping for an alternative like I am now.
