Been using for 6 years faultlessly
We opted for GoCardless as a simpler means for both our customers and ourselves. We've been using it for 6 years now without any issues, integration was easy, sign up for customers has always been simple and we've never had any issues with payment coming through, or being able to reconcile. I've found that being able to split invoices into monthly instalments is a real win for clients wishing to spread the cost, and have never had any problems when setting these up. I would definitely recommend them.

Problems every time
Every time I have processed an invoice for a customer I have had issues even though it was set up correctly. They keep the money if a client pays but have an issue and will notify you. If you do not use the account for a short amount of time they disable giving you paid bills from customers and DO NOT NOTIFY YOU. DO NOT RECOMMEND

Improved AR
We instituted GoCardless to put our clients on autopay for our rental business and it has greatly improved our Accounts receivables in payment and collecting times. I'm happy so far. Customer service has been pretty good, they respond within 24 hours via email. It's kind of annoying when you're trying to figure something out immediately, so that could certainly improve but overall it's helped us considerably.

Waste of Time. Regulators Already Involved
I only found GoCardless through Xero’s app store and it has been nothing but a mess. They demanded documents no other processor (Stripe, PayPal, Wells Fargo, Capital One) ever asked for, then approved my account and shut it down two weeks later with a vague “security” excuse.
I have already filed complaints with regulators in the US (CFPB, FinCEN, South Dakota Division of Banking), UK (FCA), Canada (FCAC), and Australia (AFCA) with EU complaints in progress. This is not onboarding. It is arbitrary, inconsistent, and unsafe for your business.
If you want reliability, go with Stripe or PayPal. GoCardless may look like a convenient Xero add-on but the reality is wasted time and regulatory headaches.

SCAM
Terrible service. They suck in the system and then hold the account. Tried to call them on their Australian land line number but no response. Sent them emails with no response. They collected the customer payments but are not sending it to our account.
I think they are resorting to teeming and lading practice.
Will take class action and also let know AFCA,Australia.
