No Customer Service

After the initial onboarding a paying the monthly bill, the customer service is less active than a ghost town. Tried calling our initial rep, phone disconnected. Easier and quicker to do an IT Course and build a new system

Just don't do it (40 years in business)

Clumsy system, lacks decent customisation options, messaging system abysmal, no option to schedule across periods > week (averaging has to be manually tracked) - honestly I struggle to find any advantage over Xero and a spreadsheet.

Misleading Pricing Information

We started using Deputy in 2018. Till recently, it provided the functionality that our business required. Like many in the retail industry, we have experienced difficult times recently and in the last 6 months have closed 3 locations, going back to just one. I have been reviewing all our subscriptions and noticed that the monthly $27.50 charge seemed to be over the $8pp charge I thought we were paying for (we are now down to 2 staff). I contacted Deputy and received a prompt response from a service agent. When I highlighted the discrepancy, all they could do was provide a generic copy and paste link from a which justifies the minimum $25 monthly charge to covering "our upfront set-up and ongoing support and technology costs". The worst part of this experience is the fact that when I highlighted to the agent that the monthly charge is not displayed on their pricing page on their website as it is on one of their competitors, RosterElf, they ignored me. This is quite frankly deceiving, in addition to not being displayed on the pricing page, it’s also not detailed on the dashboard to a deputy user either. This is only mentioned/ hidden on help centre page of the website. We have now cancelled our subscription and found an app that suits our budget and functionality requirements. If you’re reading this and you’ve made it this far ;) we have now switched to Droppah- great news, it’s free for teams of up to 11 and even offers integration with Xero for payroll.

Overall a very efficient way of managing roster scheduling and payroll obligations. The leave balances do not sync with Xero as well as I would like however excellent integration overall.

Deputy and Xero

Deputy works well most of the time with Xero, but sometimes, unless everything completely matches between the two apps, there can be glitches, which is frustrating and slows things down. on occasions where we have needed tech support, each support team has said it is the other apps problem. Even more frustrating!
