Should be so good, but alas it is not. Synching is quite poor and only one-way (from Clio).
There is no easy way to resolve sync errors. Some things, such as credit notes generated on Clio, are not properly dealt with by the time they show up in Xero and for Brits, this can mean that you end up paying more VAT than you should, if you rely on Xero to do the sums.

I love Clio but for the past month or more, invoices that I enter as paid in Clio do not show up as paid in Xero even though I get the message that Clio and Xero are synching. This appears to be a problem with Xero, not with Clio. It's getting frustrating since I have to then manually enter information for paid invoices into Xero when I chose Xero based on representations that Xero and Clio worked well together.

We have one client that uses Clio to invoice. The invoices sync over very well, but payments do not sync. We also need to use track codes according to which partner brought in the business. The client has determined the codes in Clio using the Client Reference Number, but these do not sync either. As far as client expenses on an invoice, they enter those in Clio, and then they sync into the COS account. So that works for them. Fixing those items that don't sync would be a great improvement! For now, we just use a workaround.

We're using Clio for billing, and Xero for accounting, which may not be the best way to go about things.
I'd like to be able to quickly split an incoming payment across multiple accounts (trust, business, and filing fees).

@Christopher, this is a Review thread for Clio and you’re only able to post once on here. If you’d like to continue this discussion, you’d be best to post this in Using Xero Add-Ons (https://community.xero.com/business/topic/68141/) so the right users can help you out. In the meantime, I’m sure Clio would appreciate a review from you on here. Thanks.

Xero can't add client expenses to an invoice which makes it pretty much useless for anyone who uses CLIO.

Although Xero reviews each app in the Xero App Store, we can’t give any guarantees. It’s up to you to assess the performance, quality and suitability of any app before going ahead.
