HOW BUDGET CONSOLIDATOR WORKS WITH XERO
Budget Consolidator connects to your Xero organisation using Xero's official API with read-only access. Here's what it reads and why:
DATA FROM XERO → BUDGET CONSOLIDATOR
- Budget names and structures: to display your available tracking category budgets
- Budget line items and amounts: to calculate consolidated totals across tracking categories
DATA FROM BUDGET CONSOLIDATOR → XERO
- Budget Consolidator does not write any data back to Xero directly
- Instead, it generates a CSV file formatted for Xero Budget Manager that you import yourself
This means your Xero data is never modified by Budget Consolidator. You stay in full control of what gets imported.
Budget Consolidator uses a secure, encrypted connection and does not store your Xero financial data beyond your active session.

Getting started
Getting started takes less than 5 minutes. No technical setup required.
STEP 1: CONNECT YOUR XERO ACCOUNT
Click "Get this app" and sign in with your Xero credentials. Budget Consolidator requests read-only access to your budgets — it will never modify your Xero data. Once connected, your tracking category budgets are loaded automatically.
STEP 2: SELECT BUDGETS TO CONSOLIDATE
Choose which tracking category budgets you want to roll up and for which time periods. You can consolidate all tracking budgets into a single Overall Budget, or select a subset to create a custom grouping.
STEP 3: GENERATE AND IMPORT
Budget Consolidator combines your selected budgets and generates a CSV file formatted for Xero Budget Manager. Download the file and import it into Xero — your consolidated Overall Budget is ready to use in reports immediately.
