Overview
AI agent connector by Meridian is a free, hosted connector that lets Claude, Cowork, ChatGPT, Codex, and other MCP clients securely read from and write to Xero.
Some things you can do:
- Connect multiple Xero organizations to the same agent—great for intercompany journal entries
- Choose read-only or read-write access separately for each organization
- Create and update Xero transactions, including manual journals
- Bulk-create invoices or import transactions from spreadsheets and statements
- Upload and attach receipts and supporting files to Xero transactions
- Compare statements and source documents with Xero to find missing transactions
- Automatically fill in your firm-specific reporting template
There’s nothing to install or maintain. Sign in with Xero, choose the organizations and access levels you want, and connect the AI agent you already use.
AI agent connector by Meridian + Xero
AI agent connector by Meridian uses Xero OAuth 2.0 and the Xero Accounting API. Users authenticate directly with Xero; neither Meridian nor the connected AI client receives their Xero password.
Users can connect multiple Xero organizations. Xero grants the accounting permissions required by the connector, while Meridian separately enforces the read-only or read-write access level selected for each organization.
Supported reads include accounts, contacts, invoices, credit notes, quotes, bank transactions, payments, manual journals, tax rates, tracking categories, and reports. Supported writes include creating and updating invoices, credit notes, quotes, contacts, items, bank transactions, payments, and manual journals, as well as uploading supporting files. Payroll tools are not currently supported.
Users can disconnect an individual organization through the connector or remove the app from Xero’s Connected apps settings.

Getting started
- Open the sign-up page and sign in with the Xero account that can access the organizations you want to connect.
- Choose read-only or read-write access for the organization. The connector then opens Xero's authorization screen.
- Select the Xero organization and approve access.
- Choose Claude or ChatGPT/Codex in the setup guide and install AI agent connector by Meridian from that client's connector directory.
- Approve the AI client's requested connector access.
- Verify the setup by asking the agent to list your connected Xero organizations.
- Ask the agent to read or update Xero.
